2 Day (LF) Forklift Licence Course
8:30am – 4:00pm each day (approximate finish time – depends on group size, experience etc.)
LLN support is available to give students advice and help with language, literacy, and numeracy services. Therefore, students who need assistance with their learning should be identified when they enrol. Additionally, trainers and staff at Trainix can provide support to help students throughout the learning process.
Moreover, language, literacy, and numeracy skills are usually included and identified in training products and accredited course programs. To identify these requirements, students need to demonstrate the following:
Language/Literacy in the Workplace:
To enrol in the LF or LO course, you need a moderate level of English understanding. This is because, as an HRW licence holder, you must communicate verbally in English with co-workers, supervisors, managers, truck drivers, and customers.
You will also need to have the language skills to read and understand the following:
Numeracy in the Workplace:
You will need to be able to assess the loads that you are lifting. Sometimes this may require you to calculate the weight of a load. You may also need to conduct stocktake (counting stock) and pick or pack orders that will also require counting.

Prior to attending the course, there will be study material to learn at home also. This helps get prepared for the theory sessions and gives students the best chance of passing the assessments.
The forklift course starts at 8:30am each day and runs until approximately 4pm.
The finish times can vary if the group size is smaller or if there are some experienced operators in the group.
You will need to bring one form of valid photo ID. Your photo ID must be any of the following and cannot be expired:
This ID must be presented in person and can’t be a photocopy. Digital issued licences are acceptable but will need to be sited by the trainer.
You will also need to bring your completed ‘workbook’ and wear appropriate clothing. Safety boots are not required but you will at least need to wear closed toe shoes (runners, sneakers etc.).
It’s a good idea to dress for the weather as our warehouse can be cold or hot, depending on the season but all of our classrooms are fitted with heating/cooling for your comfort.
When you book your forklift course with Trainix, we will email you two PDF documents for each course. One file is the ‘Study Guide,’ and the other is the ‘Workbook.’
Before starting your forklift course, you will need to complete the ‘Workbook.’ This is not only a requirement but also helps students achieve better results in the assessments.
Absolutely! Our forklift course is designed for both beginners and experienced operators. In fact, most people can learn to operate a forklift safely within the given time, even if they have no prior experience.
Above all, our trainers have many years of experience in both operating and training. Therefore, they will do everything possible to help you if you encounter any difficulties during the course.
Definitely! Operating a forklift is a key part of the course. Therefore, our trainers will spend plenty of time with you to make sure you operate competently and safely. We also have electric counterbalance forklifts available for practice.
At the beginning of the course, each trainer will give a practical demonstration. This will show you our expectations for safe forklift operation. During your practical training, the trainers will be with you the entire time, offering tips and advice to help you perform safely.
If, for any reason, you are not able to become competent within the allocated time, we can arrange additional time if needed.
Like most workplaces, we will have multiple breaks during the day (morning/lunch/afternoon). Due to the nature of the practical training, there will also be some downtime which means you can use that time however you wish.
We have free coffee/tea available and there is a vending machine on-site. There are also multiple cafes in the area. Just ask your trainer and they will be able to point you in the right direction.
After successfully completing the forklift course, you will receive an email from WorkSafe with your Notice of Assessment (this is also your temporary licence) and instructions on how to apply for your forklift licence. Generally, you should receive this email within 72 hours of completing the course.
Next, you need to apply for your licence either online or at a Post Office within 60 days of completing the course. If you fail to do so, your licence will expire, and you will have to attend another 2-day course at full cost.
In the meantime, you can operate a forklift with your temporary forklift licence (Notice of Assessment) while waiting for your actual licence to be processed. WorkSafe will charge a fee to process your forklift licence.
This fee is determined by WorkSafe, so check the cost at the time of your course, as it may change.
Finally, for more information on the licence application and fees, please visit WorkSafe Victoria’s website.
Once you have completed your forklift licence application and it has been issued, it will be valid for 5 years. Moreover, you will receive notifications from WorkSafe before your licence expires with instructions on how to renew it.
Additionally, you won’t need to complete another course to renew your licence, but you must stay competent in forklift operation. The cost of licence renewal will be determined by WorkSafe at that time.
Therefore, please check WorkSafe Victoria’s website for the current fees, as they may change.
If you do not pass your forklift course, we offer one free re-test for any part of the test where you were deemed ‘not yet competent’ (whether it’s theory, calculations, or practical).
Additionally, we will provide any extra training you need. Furthermore, we will discuss your options with you if you need to be re-assessed.
We run several forklift courses each week. Although we can be busy at certain times of the year, we usually can get you into a course within a week or two.
Not to mention, we offer courses on Fridays and Saturdays most weeks. This can be helpful if you are working during the week.
You can book a course by either calling us on (03) 9369 8823 during work hours (8am – 4pm weekdays), emailing us at info@trainix.com.au or completing a booking form on our ‘Book Now‘ page.
We limit our forklift courses to 6 people maximum. This means everyone gets plenty of time to learn how to operate a forklift.
While it’s not a requirement, it is highly recommended that you have some type of vehicle/car driving experience as it can be difficult to learn how to operate a forklift without already having basic driving skills.

Furthermore, if you need extra help, whether it’s additional practical forklift training or theory-based support, we are here to assist you. Everyone is treated with the utmost respect, and we ensure the learning environment is comfortable and relaxed.
Moreover, the atmosphere greatly helps with learning! Our forklift licence trainers are patient and willing to dedicate time to help you overcome any challenges you may face during the forklift course.
We are always up-to-date with any changes in forklift licence training methods, safety, compliance, and other regulations.
You can be sure that we are constantly updating our practices to stay on top of current forklift training procedures.

Furthermore, the equipment we use in our forklift licence course meets industry standards and is always in good condition.
To get a forklift licence, you need to pass three assessments: Knowledge, Calculations, and Practical assessments.
With the way we train you during the forklift course, we are confident that you will gain a good understanding of everything needed to pass your LF licence assessments.
However, we understand that sometimes it can be difficult.
Unlike some other forklift training providers in Melbourne, we offer a free re-test guarantee on any part of the forklift licence assessment you didn’t pass.
As a result, this can put your mind at ease and give you the chance to come back, at no extra charge, to retake the forklift course assessments.
The western suburbs are growing with new housing and industrial estates. First of all, we are located right in the middle of it all! We are easy to find, just off the Princes Freeway.
In addition, public transport is convenient. For instance, Williams Landing and Hoppers Crossing train stations are nearby. Buses from either train station can drop you off right at the end of our street at Graham Court.
Shops and cafés are close by with plenty of options, including Indian cuisine, burgers, and kebabs!
Our forklift licence trainers and staff have worked in the warehousing industry as forklift operators and safety representatives before becoming trainers. As a result, they understand what really happens in the workplace and what is expected of you when you work as a forklift operator.
Therefore, our forklift training students will be trained correctly and to a standard that reflects what is happening in the industry today.
For that reason, we receive positive feedback from our forklift course students. They mention that the knowledge and guidance from our trainers are of a very high standard.
Getting a forklift licence is a good start, but it’s just the beginning. First, you need to put it into practice in the workplace. Then, you must operate safely and competently after getting your LF licence. This is a different challenge altogether.
Since our trainers have many years of experience working as forklift operators, they know what you’ll face when you start working. Therefore, they can prepare you well.
We don’t just train you to get your forklift licence; additionally, we prepare you for a job as a forklift operator.
Moreover, our trainers will answer your questions about forklift operations in the workplace. They will also help you understand the challenges you may encounter while working.
Trainix is a lively place. For example, it’s common to have multiple forklift licence courses running at the same time in one of our three classrooms. Furthermore, we provide coffee, tea, filtered water, a fridge, and microwaves on-site so you can bring your lunch.
From the moment you first step into the reception area to the large warehouse space where the forklifts and order pickers operate, you will notice our efforts. We have worked hard to make the whole place positive, professional, clean, modern, and friendly.
It’s important to us that our forklift training students are comfortable when learning. Therefore, we believe this is the best way to achieve great results.
